A Midnight Runaway

Saffron Walden Weekly NewsA STRANGE INCIDENT.

P.C. Fitch, who was on his beat, in Cow-lane, in this parish, at about 12.30 on Tuesday morning, was somewhat surprised to find a runaway horse and waggon in the lane. The horse was going at a brisk rate, and drawing a load of corn. The constable eventually succeeded in stopping the animal. It was found to belong to Mr. J. T. Pilgrim, and was taken to safe quarters. No one appears to have been with the horse and waggon, and why it was there is a mystery.
