    Frank Hyde was born on in Wilshamstead, Bedfordshire

    Frank Hyde joined Essex County Constabulary on .

    Before joining, Frank worked as a Bricklayer's Labourer

    Frank Hyde had originally applied to join the Cambridgeshire Constabulary but was rejected for being a quarter of an inch below the minimum height requirement for that force, at the time 5ft 10in.

    Hyde became a Detective Constable and was promoted to Detective Inspector on 6th November 1921 and to Superintendent on 27th March 1929. Upon promotion to superintendent, Hyde took charge of the Saffron Walden division, succeeding Superintendent Flack.

    He was awarded the Merit Badge on 6th July 1917 for zeal and efficiency shown in the performance of his duties.

    Hyde was also the captain of the Essex County Police Cricket Team.
